A lot of animals get hurt seriously hurt in the wild, but since they are secluded with no one to find them, they die. Being in a zoo, there are always veterinarians and workers to keep an eye on the animals. If an animal becomes sick, the vet could find the problem straightaway and do whatever they can to make them better.
The Wildlife Conservation Society explains that, “In New York City, more than 20,000 wild animals reside in WCS’s four zoos. The wildlife represents 1,400 species—each with special nutritional, behavioral, and medical needs. [Their] veterinarians have the know-how to treat them all” The specialized vets are trained specifically to care for these animals. They know how to help the animals without scaring them or making anything worse.
The Wildlife conservation society also stresses how they are “well versed in the latest veterinary medicine and skillful in the newest procedures, [and] they are ready for almost anything. An MRI scan for a gorilla? Check. A nursery for hand-raising a rare baby fruit bat? Check. Dental work for walruses? Yes, that too.” The workers study the animals in depth, and start to create the techniques that are necessary to care for the animals. 24/7 help for the animals is promising. Even the smallest of issues, the zoos will assist. |
