When this zoo started off, it was run completely with one small family, the Mottersheads. This zoo is now a registered charity, and focuses on taking in animals and that need help. “[they are] passionate about what [they] do, whether it's creating a brilliant day out for [the public], or working with endangered wildlife around the world.” Chester Zoo is finding animals that are becoming extinct and they are giving them a home that they can survive in.
According to the Chester Zoo website, “[they] act for wildlife all over the world-from the UK to the Philippines.” So one of their main goals are to find the animals in need and give them proper care to stay live no matter where they are in the world. They have 12,000 animals and 110 acres of award winning zoological gardens. This zoo is huge, proving that they care about these animals.
Just last year, “a pair of Babirusa piglets were born in late October, adding significantly to the population of one of the rarest pig species in the world. This was a great achievement as this species is classed as 'vulnerable' by conservationists and the exact population numbers in the wild is unknown. So this birth was really exciting and positive news for the future of the species.” This is just one specific example of a rare animal that has been helped by Chester Zoo. |
This is just one specific example of a rare animal that has been helped by Chester Zoo. Being in this zoo is helping the animals significantly. This is not just a place where the owners want money and don’t care how the animals are treated. They are doing everything in their power to protect and save rare animals, or help research certain types of species.
Looking through the website the public can get interactive with many different programs, and that is just one way they are trying to help them get involved. Chester Zoo is helping animals across the map, and without them, some animals might already be extinct. The motto of the zoo is “we are Chester Zoo and we act for wild life”, and that is just one more way to prove their good intentions.
